One open (JRF/SRF/RA) Research position is available under CSIR sponsored project entitled “Cost of selection response to simultaneous selection on two divergent life-history traits in Drosophila melanogaster.” The selected candidate will be appointed at the appropriate level depending on qualification(s) and the salary/fellowship would be fixed as per CSIR as well as JNU norms. The appointment will be for an initial period of one year and may be extended on yearly basis for a further period of two years subject to satisfactory progress of the candidate. The candidates are required to attend an interview in JNU at their own cost. No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview. Selection as JRF/SRF in this project does not entitle the candidate for a Ph.D. position in JNU. The position is purely temporary and the maximum duration is for 2 years.

JRF: The candidates must have cleared CSIR-UGC NET/GATE and completed M.Sc. in Biological Sciences with at least 55% marks.

Essential Qualification:
Master’s degree in any branch of Science such as Biology / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications / Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / Psychology or equivalent. OR

* The awardees (who have not completed their degrees) will have an opportunity to work on research projects under the mentorship of faculty members/scientists during their summer vacation. On the completion of their degrees, they could be considered for research Fellowship subject to performance during Summer Internship. The Summer Internship scheme is open to pre-final year B.Tech./ B.E./ M.A./ M.Com/ M.Sc./ M.E./ M.Tech./ MBA/ MBBS or equivalent degree students.
* The summer internship scheme is only for pre-final year students. Final year students appearing for their final exam shall apply for Research Fellowship.

Selection will be based on performance in the interview. The dates of interview will be intimated later and also be placed on our website. Decision of the screening/selection committee will be final and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification. Selected candidates will be eligible for scholarship as per rules and may be provided hostel accommodation on sharing basis.
